ELEMENTARY BACKPACK PROGRAM​

Each Friday during the school year backpacks filled with snack foods are sent home with qualifying students. We are a part of helping between 125-150 kids each week.
EYE EXAMS & GLASSES​
​
We partner with 2 local optometrists to provide eye exams, frames and lenses for kids (and on occassion adults). Previously this was done through the Lion's Club but it is now a part of our club.
SPEECH & ESSAY CONTEST​
​
We hold a local contest for area middle and high school students and give cash awards to the winners who then go on to the state Optimist competitions and represent our community.
MIDDLE & HS BACKPACK PROGRAM

These backpacks are for students who don't have a home and stay with friends. Each backpack is filled with personal hygiene items, maybe a towel and washcloth, snacks, etc.
CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER​
​
We are one of several sponsors who support this center which provides assistance to local police departments and partner agencies in working with child abuse related cases. For more information about Tulsa's Child Advocacy Center click on the following link: childabusenetwork.org.
SCHOLARSHIPS (LOCAL)​
​
Two $500 scholarships to be awarded to two Glenpool High School seniors. Students must be active in their community. This program is new and under development. For more information contact the Glenpool High School principal and mention Optimist Club Scholarships.
MENTORING PROGRAM​
​
The mentor program matches a student and adult mentor for various reasons through a referral process. The mentor meets with the student once each week during a school day. Anyone wishing to participate as a mentor may complete an application online. Application.
SCHOLARSHIPS (STATE)

$1,000 scholarships to be awarded to three Oklahoma High School seniors. Applications will be available soon.
